Do Moms get the same 24 hours in a day?

There's an old saying that goes, "we all have the same 24 hours in a day."

As a mom trying to do it all, do you agree? Do we make our schedules, or are they made for us? Is it really all our choice, or are we merely doing what we can to make it through the day?

I know this statement evoked strong feelings in me, but how does it make you feel?

  1. While it's true that we all do have 24 hours in a day, as moms only a few of those hours are truly for us. I put my daily activities into a Google calendar, and by the time I've added all of the daily recurring activities (taking child to and from school, packing lunches, household chores, shower/get dressed, cooking and eating, etc) I might find 1-2 hours that aren't completely planned. However, it's this special time you have to carve out and protect. I made many excuses that I couldn't get to the gym because all of this "stuff" needed to get done, however all that made me was miserable and not very good to my family, that depend on me so heaveily that I MUST be at my best physically! So, it really works. The better job you can do to protect your workout and cooking/eat time, the better you are for your family when accomplishing all of the other things.

  2. Boy...depends on the day!!! Much of your day as a working & working out mom is planned. I just know for me I have to get to the gym so I can face all that I have to do. Focus on what has to get done...set realistic goals...don't beat yourself up for what you didn't get to...work smarter not harder!
